if the daughter got 2,400, then the son got 2,400 * [tex] \frac{5}{6} [/tex] (we divide what she got into six parts and give him 5 of such parts: this is

2,400 * [tex] \frac{5}{6} [/tex]= 400*5=2000

and together they got 2000+2400=4400

which is the answer
