what is the value of x in the equation 4x+8y=40 when y=0.8

8.4 = X.... First you plug in .8 for y, then you multiply 8 and .8 because you do parenthasis first. that should give you 6.4, so then you do 40-6.4 and should get 33.6 then you divide four by 33.6 and should get x=8.4
