Mittens For Detroit Fundraiser 2018
Sherwood Employees Donate Over 600 Pairs Of Mittens and Gloves
For thousands of children and adults in Detroit, a single pair of gloves to protect their hands is a luxury they cannot afford. Shelters often distribute socks as makeshift mittens. Mittens for Detroit helps by providing over 50,000 pairs of new mittens and gloves to those who need them.
For the second time, Sherwood Food Distributors Detroit Division had a fundraising event to help Mittens for Detroit reach their goal. In 2017 Shewood’s Detroit division donated 520 pairs of gloves to the cause. This holiday season they surpassed 2017’s total to over 600 pairs of mittens and gloves, including some hats and scarves to the charity.
The idea came from Sherwood employee Chris Urbain in 2017. Chris spearheaded the fundraiser, and donated her personal time to Mittens to Detroit.
Sherwood would like to thanks to all the employees who gave a helping hand to those in need for the cold winter months.
